Car Buying Tips From a Seasoned Pro

Car Buying Tips From a Seasoned Pro

Considering purchasing a car?  This article on Car Buying Tips is an excellent guide to a successful car purchase.

Car Buying Tips will help you out when purchasing that car you have your mind set on, and will save you a ton of time and money!

One of my passions over the years has been the art of automotive science.  I decided to start a car buying tips series to help other people when it comes to purchasing that new or used car.  Over my lifetime I have researched, studied, kept up on the latest automotive technology with a vengeance.  My buddies and I used to play the “name that car make and model game” as we drove down the various roads all over the USA.  It was a competitive game between us to see who could correctly identify the make/model of a car that was approaching us before the other guy, all for bragging rights.  This game may seem trivial to some folks but to any of you auto buffs it makes perfect sense.  So I thought I’d write a quick post and share a few tips about what I’ve learned over the years of buying and selling a number of cars.

So you have made the decision to trade in that old clunker that’s served you and your family so well.  With so many choices in today’s automotive world, a car buying tips guide to purchasing a car make perfect sense!  Unfortunately from my personal experience there are more than a few car dealerships that still play the high pressure games.  Car buying tips is here to help!  Although with the advent of the internet most well armed buyers have more than enough resources to level the playing field between them and the car dealership.

Hopefully by the time it comes to look for your new ride you have some idea of what type/make/model of car you are looking for.  If you need assistance, car buying tips recommends some great websites you can utilize.  Edmunds.com is a great resource to help you research different makes and models and also has a consumer ratings/feedback section where you can read other car owners reviews of that particular vehicle.

Once you have narrowed it down to the particular make and model, car buying tips recommends using a top online auto classified site like Autotrader.com, Autotrader is one of the best websites out there from my personal experience, although there are certainly other good sites I would start with them as they seem to have the broadest inventory of new and used vehicles of any site I’ve researched. One word of caution, unless you have a burning desire to be the first butt to warm the leather…save yourself a lot of money and but slightly used!  Automobiles are NOT a good investment and they depreciate up to 50% with in a few years of ownership.  Car buying tips recommends purchasing a pre-owned automobile that is two to three years old and has under 30,000 miles on the odometer.

You may ask why two to three years old and under 30k miles?  Car buying tips says good question, most manufacturers have a bumper to bumper warranty that covers any defects or problems for four years or 50k miles whatever comes first.  By purchasing your car with 30k or less miles and two to three years old, you still have enough of a cushion to drive your new ride and still be protected.  If you purchase your new car from a new car dealer they may even certify that particular car for up to a 100k mile warranty but that does add to the retail price of the car.

Now that you have found a car you really like and are willing to drive for the foreseeable future car buying tips says its time to negotiate a price.  With the advent of the internet one can search nationwide to find the car of your dreams.  I have personally purchased cars all over the country and had them shipped to my residence with great success.  Shipping to most parts of the country costs between $500 to $1000 depending on the distance.

Car pricing can vary greatly from one section of the country to the other and whether the car is being offered through a dealer or a private party.  Car Buying Tips recommends using a site like Kelly Blue Book or

Another very important aspect to buying a pre-owned automobile, get a research report on the vehicle before committing! Carfax.com and Autocheck.com are two of the top car history reporting services.  They will run you a report that details its entire history so you will have peace of mind concerning any accidents, title discrepancies, flood/hail damage, salvage title, service history on that particular automobile.

Below is a summary to a smart Car Buying Tips, automobile purchasing experience:

  • If you can, purchase a slightly used or pre-owned vehicle and save a TON of money!
  • If your not sure of your next horseless carriage, utilize a good automobile research/review site.
  • Utilize a good car classified service to search nationwide as prices/inventory vary across the country.  Look for cars that are 2-3 years old and have under 30k miles on the odometer.
  • Look for cars that are 2-3 years old and have under 30k miles on the odometer.
  • Negotiate the price utilizing a automobile pricing guideline service and start by using the wholesale price.
  • Before you purchase your next bucket of bolts, make sure it isn’t!  Use a car research service to review its history or you may be sorry.
  • Do not be afraid to purchase your next car from someone out of state.  Shipping is relatively painless and easy to set up.

I hope you find value in this article and from my personal experiences purchasing and selling a number of cars over the past twenty plus years.  If you did enjoy this article about Car Buying Tips, please feel free to re-tweet it and leave a comment below, I really appreciate your comments.

Yours in success,

I will always remember that day I received the call, “honey we are Pregnant!” A few gallons of smelling salts and cold buckets of water later I was whisked back into consciousness. Pregnant, no way not this guy. After all I never thought I had what it took to create another human being. I was one of those people who over the years of doing whatever I wanted when I wanted, never fathomed having to take on the unimaginable role called fatherhood!

Looking back on that day I have to chuckle at the raging stream of thoughts and emotions that passed through my cranium. Oh no, there goes my freestyle way of life, how can I possibly nurture and raise another human being or even simply change a diaper….are you nuts? Then the little man on my “bad” shoulder told me I could always change my blood type and social security number, and quietly leave at midnight for a long trip to somewhere deep in the southern hemisphere.

Well I manned up and at 43 years of age knew deep in my heart that the good Lord had sent me a message, Jeff you are now going to do something quite a bit more responsible and rewarding than anything you have ever done to this point in your life. Well the ensuing nine months literally flew by and last August 2009 we were blessed with a beautiful, healthy little angel named Sophia.

Now I was told by many parents that until you gaze into your newborns eyes you just wont know that loving feeling. It turns out they were right. Once I cut the cord and looked into her sweet little innocent eyes, daddy was hopelessly in love! Going through the birthing experience is a complete rush, the tide of emotions and at times near panic are indescribable. Once little Sophia was in my arms it all melted away and a peaceful calm overtook and wiped clean any stressful or negative thoughts.

Of course I once again was bombarded by the negatives, the hospital staff was wonderful but they hit us with so much information about properly raising little Sophia that I felt hopelessly overwhelmed! I remember thinking I cannot possibly remember everything each Doctor or Nurse told us once we bring this precious cargo home. How am I going succeed as a parent was my overriding concern. Well three days later little Sophia was introduced to her new family and she looked at her daddy as to say, don’t worry I am going to be just fine.

All that was over eight months ago. Our little princess is a thriving, growing, babbling bundle of joy! The time has gone by so fast its hard to remember little Sophia as a wee toddler. She is outgrowing her onesies every couple months and seems to learn new “tricks” every day. As I reflect on the past eight months I have to admit that even though there is no road map for raising a baby, ones parental instincts do kick in. Even though I know that there will be plenty of challenges ahead, every time my little darling looks at me and gives daddy one of her patented smiles it makes life worth living!

5 Ways to Deal With Miserable People

I ran across this article and it really made sense.  One of the biggest hurdles we face as a society is negativity.  Every day we wake up to the media pouring it on us.  I’m sure each of you knows a few people who no matter how positive your mood, try to bring you down anyway they can!  The author makes a few salient points on overcoming and moving past these negative bombardments.  This article points to the female gender but it applies equally to us men.

Let’s face it, the world is full of miserable people, and they want nothing more than for you to be just as miserable (if not more than) they are. My clients almost immediately notice the amount of negativity in their environment as soon as they stop participating in the constant complaining and griping.

“Everyone is so miserable,” a recent client said. “I can’t stand to be around them.” Well, as long as we are amongst the human species, we will need to learn how to deal with these miserable creatures.

1. Acceptance

The moment you begin to argue and complain about another person’s negative behavior, you have joined their league. In order to step outside of this cycle, you must accept the situation as it is: miserable and all. When you stop trying to change another person (because you can’t), you are free to live your life free from their negative energy.

2. Understand

Although I don’t make it my business to understand other people, it has been most helpful for me to realize why people are negative. This understanding replaces anger with compassion. I’ve known a lot of miserable people in my life. Hell, I use to be one of them. Here’s what they almost always have in common:

They operate from a place of lack.

Miserable people have a mindset that says something like, “If she’s successful, then she’s taking from me” or “If she’s pretty, then it makes me less pretty.” As you can imagine, this makes everyone an enemy that needs to be destroyed, and the best way to destroy the human spirit is to infuse it with negativity.

They are afraid.

Because they believe the universe is lacking of the resources that they need in order to live abundantly, miserable people are afraid, and this fear manifests itself in negativity in the form of anger, jealousy, envy, among other emotions.

They are filled with miserable thoughts.

I recently dealt with the very worst kind of miserable person: a family member. This person, in a very cynical way, made a “hurtful” comment about something I am working on. At one time, I would have immediately become defensive, and I might have even believed him, but instead, I thought to myself, “Wow…he must have a lot of crappy thoughts.” Then, I let it go, which leads me to the next point.

3. Don’t take it personal.

When you understand the mental workings of the miserable person, you can step outside of the equation, and see it for what it is: not about you.

However, as long as you use another’s words as a filter for your own self-worth, you will take every comment from every person personally, and that leads to a lifetime of roller coaster rides, which is completely out of your control.

When you do this, you give away your power. And girl, you want to keep that so that you can deal with these people.

4. Separate

Epictetus said, “The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.” I believe Epictetus would tell you to “get away” from miserable people. Seriously, don’t subject yourself to the negativity when you have a way out.

It’s not worth your time or energy. Personally, I believe that our personal energy is priceless. Protect it with your life, because it is your life.

5. Gratitude

Lastly, be thankful that you no longer operate at such a miserable level.

Network Marketing Coaching-Beware!

Here you are, a newbie in the jungle known as Network Marketing.  By this time you probably purchased some type of marketing program to jump start your fledgling Internet Marketing Business.  You will soon find out that navigating through this jungle takes more than a hand held GPS unit!

Once you view all the instructional how to videos and read the various PDF training documents, if you are anything like me you will have a ton of questions.  The instructional videos and training documentation are very valuable, but they do not teach the little intricate secrets or shortcuts you need to learn to be a success in this business.

That is where hiring a coach/mentor comes in.  Naturally being a newbie, you for better or worse assume that if the program you purchased tells you they have “expert” coaches available for a price you believe them.  Slow down a bit, below are a couple key questions to ask any perspective coach before handing over your hard earned money:

  • Depending on what type of product/service you are trying to sell or promote, how much experience if any does this coach have in your particular niche?
  • If you are trying to promote your products/services using popular methods such as Google Pay Per Click, Blogging, Video Ads, Article Marketing or any other advertising strategy, does this coach have a good deal of experience in your particular medium?
  • Ask the coach your considering hiring if they have any type of refund available if you are not satisfied with their services.

I have hired two coaches to help me develop my Internet Marketing Business.  The first and still with me has done a great job of helping me develop the initial systems for my business.  The second coach and the main reason for this article has basically run me in circles over the past month with absolutely NO progress made!

Just because the particular company promises you their coaches are experts and well worth the money, exercise caution!  Most of the time these companies charge upwards of $200 per hour for the coaches time.  If you feel you are not getting much value from your coach take proper steps to replace them….remember, its YOUR money use it wisely!

Yours in success,

So here you are dreaming of a brand new life.  With your new life comes all of these benefits; complete control over you time, working at a career you enjoy, working out of your own home, unlimited income possibilities, and dare I say it…asking your significant other how their regular boring old day job went all the while knowing they HATE their job!

I’m sure all of us from time to time fantasize about what it would be like to live like this on a daily basis.  The cold hard fact is that most people never get past the fantasy.  With the most lucrative careers the failure rates are very high and the top 2% club is there for a reason.

Right now we have one of the most lucrative instruments man has ever known, allowing anyone the chance to be in the 2% club and make a fantasy type living while enjoying all the benefits outlined in the first part of this article.  This medium is known as the internet.  There are quite a few people out there who are living this lifestyle with nothing more than a laptop and a internet connection.

One word of caution to all of you who aspire to be one of these “lucky” people.  Take my advice, if anyone tells you this business is easy and a quick way to make a ton of money, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction!  Starting and running a successful Internet Marketing Business is NOT easy.  It is not a get rich quick solution to your mounting debt woes.  It takes a lot of hard work, sweat, and often times complete frustration.

You have to remember that to become rich and successful you need to do what 98% of the population doesn’t or else everyone would be living the dream right?  You need to be prepared to learn an incredible amount of information and develop the skill sets to properly sort through it all.  If you already are working at your day job be prepared to spend some long nights building your business.

The purpose of this article is not to scare anyone from pursuing their dream, but to paint a realistic picture of whats ahead for the aspiring Internet Marketer.  That being said if you are determined to live your dreams and have the staying power to overcome your frustrations along the way, this career affords one of the most rewarding and fulfilling lifestyles out there.

Newbie Mistakes-Dont Make This One!

I went through a very sobering and scary experience yesterday.  As a medium to well weathered newbie in the realm of Network Marketing I pulled a pretty good boo-boo.  I want to make a quick post so anyone who may make the same potentially devastating mistake can learn from mine.

If you are new or relatively new to the internet world, you have a ton of techie terms thrown at you in short order.  Among the most common are terms like; Domain Names, URL Links, Hosting Sites, Back Linking, HTTP//: Links, Names Servers or DNS, Website/Blogs, etc.

Now once you are in this industry and earn your stripes this terminology will seem like yesterdays news, but to a relative newbie its easy to get pretty confused as to how they all interconnect.  I found out the hard way when I did what I thought was a routine and simple task, I decided to host my Blog with another lower cost hosting service and simply canceled the hosting account that was hosting my WordPress Blog!  BIG Mistake!

I then went about purchasing and setting up my new services hosting account and when I went back to my beloved Blog all I saw was this message, “this blog has been suspended.”  Imagine my reaction after spending TWO plus months toiling night and day to post approximately 22 articles and then finding them lost in cyberspace!

The morel of this little tale is if you decide to cancel one hosting service in favor of another, please transfer your blog/website to the new service BEFORE you cancel your old service!   I had to learn the hard way, a Hosting account is the epicenter of your blog/website.  It stores and hopefully backs up all the articles/posts that you write.  The actual blog in this case WordPress, is just an innocent software program and doesn’t do any storage or backup of content!

Luckily in this case I was able to retrieve my data with the help of my old hosting service so I avoided what could of been a depressing end to all the hard work I had previously put into my Blog, please do not let this happen to you!

Yours in success,

Are You Controlled By Negative Thinking?

We are in fact only human right?  Its no wonder why so many people dwell on the negatives and end up depressed in our society.  It starts in the morning when you turn on the TV set and your brain is bombarded with all kinds of depressing news and events.  Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a dedicated “happy thoughts” channel?

Yeah right, unfortunately happy thoughts are not what sells advertising.  So how does one protect these negative emotions from taking over your sub conscious?  Throw away the old TV and discontinue paying your cable bill.  I guarantee you will start noticing immediate improvement in your overall demeanor.

Okay so most of us wouldn’t go that far, how about a little game of mind control and how we deal or react to all the negative bombardment.  You and only you can control how you react to negative thinking and ultimately determine if you are a happy camper or a sad puppy.  The most crucial component to wether you have a happy core is how you process the negatives thrown at you, do you dwell on these negatives and let them stew in your cranium or are you able to throw them in the trash bin as soon as possible?

If you master the ability to process and filter out the unpleasant negative items in your brain you have won the battle!  Negative people tend to dwell on the depressing aspects of their lives and somehow always find someone other than themselves to blame for their depressed state.

Positive people on the other hand learn to process and filter out these negative thoughts and emotions and dwell on the positives in their lives.  Remember, we live in a ever increasing world of violence and societal unrest so its ever more imperative that we learn to work on becoming positive people.

One little trick I’ve learned over my forty plus years is once I start down the road of feeling bad for poor little ol me, I think of all the unfortunate people who have a dreaded disease or the person I know who just went through a nasty bitter divorce.  I have to remind myself that my life is pretty darn good and I really have no room for feeling down and out.

In summary if you can focus on all the blessings and positive things that happen on an everyday basis in your life it will make you a much happier person!  We are all human and the negatives will continue to assault our brain but its really how we deal with these thoughts that determine if we will be a happy camper or a sad terrified puppy at the end of the day.

Tips on Relieving Stress

After a day where my blood pressure hovered near the Stratosphere, I read this article on relieving what plagues most of us on a daily basis, STRESS!  Wouldn’t it be a wonderful world if this nasty little emotion never was a factor?  I believe a lot of ones happiness has to do with how well we deal with stress.  The author points out seven different techniques we can employ to help us once we hit the boiling point.

Whether you are suffering from acute (short term) or chronic (long term) stress, the effects can feel overwhelming. Everyone experiences stress. The overwhelming effects of stress will vary greatly depending on the individual experiencing it. And just as the effects are varied so are the coping mechanisms. The following are 7 tips to relieving stress.

1. Prioritizing. Simply reevaluating what is important in a daily or weekly “to-do” list is a form of prioritizing. People can become consumed with unimportant activities, and consequently, the important parts of a schedule can be forgotten, causing more stress. Significant items will get checked off first as prioritizing is properly done. When unimportant tasks are left undone, the stress is less, and can be more easily handled.

2. Exercise. Regular exercise is the gold standard of stress relief. Exercise gets the blood flowing through the body and can take your mind off of stress. Some people choose yogic exercise because of the relaxation of mind and body that it offers. Whatever you choose to do, make it fun! Do something active that you are passionate about or that you’ve always wanted to do.

3. Natural Essential Oils. Another great way to manage stress is through the usage of natural essential oils. Some of them have a calming effect that can trigger relaxation in the brain. These natural essential oils can be used topically, or infused into living/work spaces to help relax the body. Most all health-food or drug stores carry natural essential oils. In addition to local stores, a wealth of information can be found online about the stress relieving properties of these essential oils.

4. Support Network. An important part of stress management is surrounding yourself with good friends. Supportive friends or family members can become a support system for you in managing stress. Make sure the people you spend most of your free time with are a positive influence for you.

5. Sleep. Are you getting enough sleep at night? Sometimes a lack of sleep can make managing stress seem impossible. Try adding even just one more hour of sleep to your evening. If your day allows for extra rest during the day, a cat nap or power nap can give you the energy to tackle stress.

6. Be optimistic. Study after study has shown that upbeat, happy people seem to be able to manage their stress better than ill-contented folks. Start with a simple smile. Count your blessings. And laugh at your mistakes.

7. Just say “No.” Learning to say, “no” is another important tip for stress relief. Saying this simple word during busy times will help to safeguard you from taking on more than you can handle. When you feel overwhelmed, never feel ashamed to ask for help.

Rogue Internet Marketer Reveals All

Internet Network Marketing Information Overload!

Hello again, I’m back from a brief hiatus and feeling refreshed.  I took a little breather from my writing to reflect on what so many of us experience in this industry, Information Overload!  I think that even with the miracle known as the human brain and not withstanding the fact that we only use approximately ten percent on any given occasion, when we are faced with too many arrows of information our cranium tends to retreat and shut down momentarily.

Well my friends, that is what happened to me.  I started down the information highway known as Route Internet Marketing 101 a few months back and admittedly I along with so many others got sucked into the trap of thinking that, “this internet marketing thing is going to be a piece of cake and make me a ton-o-money.”

Not so fast there cowboy…what I’ve learned about this business in a few months would probably earn me a Gold Metal, were this an Olympic Sporting event based on internet marketing knowledge.  I can guarantee that ANYONE who has traversed this road will say AMEN to that!  I recently watched a video on this subject on information overload from a guru in our industry none other than Mike Dillard himself.

I knew it wasn’t half bad when Mike himself who has made Millions in this industry said he STILL gets information overload at times.  Well if experts in our industry experience this what does that do to a fledgling newbie?  Its called BURN OUT, That is why so many people fail period!

Here is how it works, you come across this medium looking for a way to replace your old every day job.  The benefits are great, work from your own home and be the master of your own time.  Wonderful idea right?  Let me tell you something mister, you better put on your Tunnel Vision Glasses right away and learn to concentrate on ONE strategy at a time!

From the minute you start down this road, the offers start from hundreds if not thousands of people who state how rich and successful they are and if only you buy into their proven system you can be too. The problem with these offers is they are all equally enticing and as a newbie you are hungry to conquer the internet marketing world!  That is where the trap is laid my friends.  Pretty soon you find yourself buying into a dozen or so “get unbelievably rich quick” programs and spending an ever increasing amount of money on them each month, while not being able to concentrate fully on any individual one.

My advice to all you who are relatively new to this game, SLOW DOWN, smell the roses and take a deep breadth.  The multitude of get rich programs will still be there if you decide to stay in this business for the long haul.  Pick one strategy to market yourself and your programs like “Pay Per Click Marketing” and stick to it.  Learn it well and master it before embarking down a different path and I can guarantee the failure rate in this business will fall substantially!

Mike Dillard explains the concept of information overload in this video.

Overcome Procrastination

Overcome Procrastination

I found this brief article while thumbing through one of my favorite article sites and it rang a large bell in my head.  Procrastination is one of the main reasons we never complete our tasks or ultimately reach our goals in life.  I know I’ve been guilty of this “sin” more than a few times but I think the author offers up a good solution in this article, enjoy.

We all know the feeling of wanting to procrastinate, you know what you are supposed to do but you simply don’t feel like doing it at the given moment. You might even start feeling bad that you are not doing what you should and you choose to slowly ignore those bad feelings and focus on something entirely different. Even though most of us procrastinate occasionally, it can be very dangerous to let procrastination control your life and procrastinating continuously on tasks you know you have to complete at some point.

Usually what happens when you procrastinate is that the tasks you are avoiding will stack up on top of each other until you reach a point where you simply can’t avoid doing these tasks anymore and suddenly you have a huge work load on your hands because you didn’t take action when you should have and decided to procrastinate instead.

The reason why we choose to avoid different actions and procrastinate is actually pretty simple. It is simply because we feel that the task we are supposed to do is going to be a lot more painful that not doing it, we don’t even consider the fact that procrastinating on this action will make it a lot more painful when you are forced to do it at some point in the future.

Procrastination always comes back after you and hits you in the back when you are expecting it the least. The easiest way to stop procrastinating is to stop thinking whenever you have a task at hand that you need to perform. What allows you to procrastinate is the fact that you logically think and find a “good” reason for why you should complete the task immediately. If you just stop this thinking process and just start taking action immediately you will build momentum and once you build momentum procrastination has already lost as it is now easier to perform this task than to procrastinate.

Another great way to avoid procrastination is to change your state immediately as soon as the logical thoughts about why you shouldn’t take action on a task start coming up. You can change your state very easily by doing something crazy like jumping up in the air, dancing, screaming or just doing something you feel is stupid and makes you laugh. Next time you even think about procrastinating just stop the thought and start taking action instead.
