Computers, as the old saying goes…ya cant live without them but you sure wish you could SMASH your bleeping error prone, spy ware filled, slow piece of you know what to BITS on a daily basis.  I consider myself to be a novice expert in the computer set up and trouble shooting world.  Somewhere between a Geek Squad VW driving techno nerd, and a complete naive beginner.

Since my early high school days where we toyed around with Apple II C machines (don’t worry, if you are younger than say 30 you wouldn’t know what I’m referring to) to the present where I now type on a state of the art Sony Vaio laptop.  I still seem to run into the same old problems that have haunted my computers over the past 20 plus years.  I’m sure you know what I’m referring too and that is the disease known as Slow, Error prone PCs.

As a society we demand faster and faster turn around times for our projects.  We demand faster internet speeds for our downloads and uploads.  When our four to six year old PCs start to freeze up and display insufficient memory messages we naturally head to our favorite Best Buy store and plunk down another $400 to $1000 to upgrade the one little box that is so crucial to keeping our life organized and our productivity in order.

The problem I’ve experienced with any new PC is that it runs flawlessly for a few months and I am thrilled to finally have a state of the art machine that tackles all my tasks until it decides to get cranky and error prone.  This whole process only takes a few months to go from amazing to I want to bleeping smash this piece of you know what to bits!  Am I right?  I’m sure most of you reading this post will agree and nod your heads affirmative.  Below is a link to a really informative article I found that has helped me tremendously in keeping my cranky new but already old PC in working order.

One note of caution, I’m sure all of you have seen or purchased those registry cleaner programs?  Be careful, I purchased and ran it on one of my desktop machines and it screwed the registry up so bad the computer wouldn’t even boot off of a start up disk!  I then called a technician and he informed me that sometimes these registry cleaners will screw up a computer beyond any simple fix.  The price I paid was having to purchase another computer and losing all the data from my old one.
