The Naked Truth About Multilevel Marketing
Share Me Here

This post is NOT about ripping on Multilevel Marketing or Network Marketing or convincing everyone that this industry is a complete scam, rather to show you what I believe contributes to the general bad taste many people have developed for this type of business. I personally have spent the past 1.5 years building my own Multilevel Marketing business and hope to share some of my own observations and reveal some of the pitfalls that soo many people fall into.
The Multilevel Marketing Dream Equates To A 97+% Failure Rate?
So many people are drawn into this business because they hear of the HUGE success someone is having working out of the comfort of their own home. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard some pitchman claim “I will show you how to produce the income of your dreams while working in your pajamas!” It’s a very convincing pitch and with soo many people out of work, it becomes even more lucrative. The cold hard fact is this, MOST people fail! They buy into the hype and then find out how hard it really is, get a bitter taste in their mouth and simply Quit!
Are The Guru’s Telling The Entire Truth?
There are a handful of VERY successful Multilevel Marketing Guru’s out there. People like Jonathan Budd, James Wood, Robe Fore and Lawrence Tam to name a few. These guys have spent a ton of time building their businesses and have developed MASSIVE lists of people who basically “worship” what they say. Kudos to each of them on their stellar accomplishments! The only thing I have learned from my experiences is these Multilevel Marketing Guru’s don’t tell the entire truth. I’ve watched hours of their training videos and purchased a few of their “get rich” systems and the training systems they sell are pretty darn good. The one fact all of these top earners leave out is this….they all have MASSIVE lists, so every-time they snap their fingers or promote a new system, they will earn Huge income!
The problem is this, the one percenters make 100% profits off the 99 percenters. Oh no, now I’m sounding like an “occupy Multilevel Marketing protester!” Again, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for people becoming successful and making oodles of money, but I just want to tell anyone new to this industry that they may not be getting all the cold hard facts behind all these “get rich” systems that are so prevalent within Network Marketing! This is America and if you are determined and have the entrepreneurial spirit within you, the sky is the limit!
What Are The Keys To Becoming Successful In Multilevel Marketing?
I’ve been in sales and marketing for the past 17 years now and learned one cardinal rule of business…..You Must Spend Money To Make Money! The two keys I believe to achieving success are:
- Ample Time to develop and grow your small business
No matter how many Guru’s tell you that if you follow their training, “you will achieve success in 90 days.” I do not believe that is the norm, most people like myself need ample time, (1-2 years) of continual effort and ongoing training to achieve even minimal success in a new business venture.
- A Reasonable Marketing Budget, Money!
Yes I said the dreaded word…..Money. I have had more than a few people tell me they really want to start their own Multilevel Marketing business, BUT do not have the funds to do it. It costs money to start any business. You have to expect losses you first couple years. I know there are exceptions and the occasional Guru who’s story includes going from “homeless to Riches” in a few short months, but let’s stay with reality here. Money is a very real necessity, especially in Network Marketing! If you dream of riches, you better have a decent budget to keep your business going for the first few years it takes to get established.
