This happens all of the time in sales.  The problem is that most marketing companies are set up with two separate departments: one that handles the lead generation process and then the sales department.  The lead generators are paid per lead.  They don’t care how qualified the leads are because they just want to make money.  The problem with the system is that you care how qualified they are because they are preventing you from getting money in your pocket and building your business.

For example, if you are involved with Beachbody, you need to appeal to fitness oriented people who love to look and feel great, not to couch potatoes or people who have no interest in physical fitness. The people who are going to make the purchase are who you need to focus your marketing campaign on.  Otherwise, you are wasting both time and money.

Further, if you have a product or service that not many people are interested in, you need to work harder to show people the value in it.  Name brand recognition and celebrity endorsements are the quickest way to peak people’s interests.  If you can use one or two of these in your marketing campaign for the lead generation process, then you will be able to close more deals.  Closing more deals equals money in the bank. Depending on your company’s structure, it could also mean cashing in on more sales incentives and much more.
